Tim is an AHA Certified Healthcare Constructor and an ACAC- Certified Microbial Consultant.  He has over twenty-five years’ experience in the field of indoor air quality testing, building envelope diagnostics, and HVAC systems hygiene assessments.  He is a recognized authority in the area of HVAC systems hygiene and its impact on Indoor Environmental Quality.  Tim is the Project Design/Manager and Principal Investigator at Air Purification Specialists, Inc., in Pavo, GA.

HVAC Systems Cleaning & Restoration Project Design and Management,

Building Envelope Investigation & Diagnostics

  • Responsible for the project specification development, implementation, and quality control of HVAC Systems cleaning and restoration projects.

​

  • Successfully completed numerous HVAC systems remediation projects in buildings ranging from 5,000-1,000,000 square feet.

​

  • Principal Investigator responsible for the development and implementation of targeted testing strategies to evaluate the indoor environmental conditions and parameters in reportedly sick buildings.

​

  • Responsible for the evaluation of individual mechanical and structural building systems and their contribution to indoor environmental problems.

​

  • Proficient in bioaerosol and microbiological sampling protocols and interpretation as defined by the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) and the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH).

​

  • Pioneered the EPA investigation of the adverse environmental affects promoted by poor HVAC systems hygiene.

​

  • Experienced in managing the public relations between Indoor Air Quality complainants and building owners.

Instructor for Indoor Environmental Quality & HVAC Systems Hygiene

  • Responsible for the development of course curriculum in the areas of Indoor Air Quality, Indoor Environmental Quality, Mold Remediation, HVAC Systems Maintenance for Hygiene, and Emergency Environmental Management. These staff development courses are designed for facilities managers, HVAC supervisors and maintenance personnel, and custodial staff.

  • Provided on-site instruction of these courses for numerous clients including federal, state and local agencies, school districts, hospitals, the United States Navy, Atlantic Fleet, and Fortune 100 companies.

Researcher

  • Served as Principal Investigator (Private Sector) for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s CRADA research project HVAC Systems Hygiene & its Impact on Indoor Air Quality. (1995-1997)

​

  • Co-chairman for the international HVAC Hygiene Standard, ACR-2000, Assessment, Cleaning, & Restoration of HVAC Systems. Responsible for the development, quality control, and validation of the new verification sampling protocols to assess post-cleaning performance as well as setting standards for proper HVAC hygiene procedures.
